The small dingy floated along near the banks, as Stehl cast out. The mist was clearing now with the rising sunlight.

Already, his early morning excursion had paid off. He had caught 2 keepers in size compared to his forearm length. Still, he continued to fish and as he had been doing for the past week; fish till about 9 am.

Once more, his own intuition told him he was being watched. But it wasn't hard to guess who again. It was that woman he had encountered a few times already. her name was Eliena. An angelic human mutant of sort. And she had the ability of flight.

Stehl had tried pondering how that human species, if there were more of her kind could have evolved in that manner. Then again, were she completely human and not a genetic designed science experiment?

naw…She seemed human in emotions and irrationality, which fit the profile of one who had experienced the old regime's handiwork...not to mention Rianna's account of Eliena's exposure to a dark force user...a Sandol character...a sith most likely...

Stehl had happened upon her curiosity of him when he had made her out circling at a fair distance in the sky. Seemed every time he would look up, a distant predatory bird seemed to be circling. t wasn't till she actually started coming closer..more ground level, and hiding in the trees that he was more certain it was indeed her. Stehl had been trained as an assassin...a sniper. He knew quite well what to look for when it came to camouflage. And she was certainly good at it. 3 days ago, he had thought he caught movement to the right of where he had situated himself with dark shades, seemingly reading an old leather bound book. But in reality, he set himself out there to try to spot whom he felt had been watching him. And sure enough, after 3 hours of seemingly reading, lounging out, that early afternoon; it moved. Stehl had set a few references in mind and had maintained a vigil of sort. After 3 hours, one of those selected spots moved. From then, it was just a matter of time, as he now had it in his sights, making like he was still reading, that it would move again. And it did, due to it probably shifting weight, trying to stretch. No human could sit perfectly still and not have to stretch a muscle sooner or later. It was impossible.

Stehl focused his dark shades, not turning his head completely toward the object, as he didn't want it to know he had spotted it. His polarized lenses were more than just shades really. They were not so different from the lenses his troopers had in their helmets...just, they were not as powerful or had their full features. They did however have the capability of at least 2x optical, and then digitally magnify that image, even able to analyze it, using spectral refraction technology. It could isolate infra-red and ultra violet also. But whatever she was using as camo, seemed to do a good job. Seemed the material she was using was an excellent camo-refractor. His lenses could not penetrate it, to pick up her body heat. But part of her features at times were not fully covered and he could make out a foot once...a few fingers...her face.

Other times, it were just two orbs, looking at him for hours...

Once Stehl knew what to look for, he could make her out once she moved or exposed enough of herself for him to pick it out of the foliage.

He put down his fishing pole and took to the oars, slowly making his way back to the banks of where his cabin was. Taking his catch with him inside, he went his usual manner of scaling and cleaning his catch...then preparing them to be cooked later on.

He would take his shades off, inside so as to not look suspicious of why he would be wearing sunglasses indoors.

Besides, he had the old antique looking glasses of Tellos inside. They were variable..zooming from at least 7x -15x optically. And at that magnification, he sometimes could spot her eyes quite easily among the trees.

But this time, he didn't need to use them, as he kind of figured she was out there looking at him again. There was no need to keep an eye on her..She was there.

It was early evening when he decided to cook the fish he had caught today, outside on the grill, again. The aroma of fresh grilled tasty fish permeated all around.

And like he had done the other day, Stehl ate just one portion of the two fish he grilled, taking it inside...leaving the other out there, covered under a screen.

Again, hoping that this time she would come and eat it, and not leave it to spoil untouched overnight again...

It was early morning when Stehl went outside to stretch. There was nothing like fresh air...and Lianna had plenty of it. He didn't have his shades on, as the sun had not crested over the mountains yet. So as he stretched and looked around, Eliena could have been camouflaged 6 paces from where he stood and unless she made any movements or a part of her stuck out, he wouldn't know it. But what he did notice was that she had a fish dinner during the night. Stehl only looked at it for a moment and went back to stretching. Like most other days that he didn't take to fishing so early, he took off running along the banks of the lake. He wasn't going all the way around, as it would take several hours. He would sometimes make it all the way to the waterfall which cascaded down to the lake, being one of the many sources that fed it. It was a tranquil spot. A good swimming hole too. as it was refreshing right about noon...or after a good hour run.
And he did just that, as the sun climbed over the mountains and started to warm up the day. Stehl had worked up a sweat running, and the cool falls were a welcoming treat...

He came up to the surface after a deep dive. It was great...refreshing... especially the innitial plunge. he then swam right beneath the falls and let the water beat down him. The fall was a small one compared to some others that fed the lake. But it dropped from 25-30 meters above. It was in reality, a stream...fresh and most likely from a spring in the mountain, as it tasted like it was too. And to which Stehl would fill the empty canteen that he had brought on the run...saving his built up thirst until he got here.
Yes, this planet was certainly a haven. And, if he closed his eyes and forgot that a certain body of a woman loathed him, because he was an officer of what she believed was the regime who did her wrong...there was an angel in this haven too.

Yes, the states which he represented had broken away from the old regime. They had enough of the oppression and heavy taxations without representation. This coop had been in the works in secret, following the destruction of the first Death Star. But they knew that they could not liberate themselves yet. Not while they remained behind the lines. And there was talk, dissention, among these states for many years...four years later th second and final death Star had met its demise. Unknowingly to the rebels of the day...it was Imperials not so different from him that made it possible for the rebels to get their hands on the plans. But it had to be done third party, as their families and systems were deep within the Empire. They just couldn't simply break away and expect to not be surrounded and destroyed...It took many more years of planning and some systems to unite behind these lines and then in a bloody skirmish, not only did they break their systems away, but were able to secure a good portion of the military. The majority of what they took were loyal to their cause as they were from these systems. it had taken yeas of planning and maneuvering to assign, put in place and recruit personnel from the united states to be in position to break away half the military, as the united systems declared independence. Within a few hours, the Empire found itself in a Civil War.
Stehl was just a young officer then and had been prepared to fight for liberation or die. And that was what was in the hearts of the many Imps who were involved in this liberation. It soon became a stalemate within the Empire. The cost of lives was untold. But they remained standing and strong. The Empire was divided. But that was many years following the death of the vile sith emperor. And all this time, these states had been watching the goings on of the New Republic. By the time the United Imperial States became a faction to be reckoned with, it was apparent that the New republic was as corrupt and failing as the old republic. And this time, they had sith ..more siths among them. The Jedi too, seemed to turn to the dark side and then re-align themselves with the Jedi again..
There were more pirates, smugglers and mercenaries killing each other and creating much mayhem in the new republic...
It was an easy choice for the United Imperial States to make... stay united and remain in the form following that of Imperialism. It was the only government that they knew, but honed it and restructured it so that it was actually functional and working. And to assure that it would not take the path of the old…they created checks and balances within the New states. The ICI and IBI were created as two distinct identities, instead of one ISB that had its faults. The ICI and IBI would provide these checks and balances, keeping the other policed in a way. and instead of an Emperor...they had an assembly...a Cabinet of visionaries that had orchestrated this independence...
It was this war which made Stehl shine...made him the man that he was...

Stehl suddenly opened his eyes... He had drifted off to sleep, while floating. The sounds of the falls nearby made this place tranquil and relaxing. He then started swimming back toward the falls and back to where he had his clothes, drying on the warm boulders under the morning sun...

"Slippery...yes. " He replied, now quite spellbound by her lack of candor.

His early observations of this woman had indicated that she had no shyness. Stehl had first though it an oddity and maybe perhaps just her disposition. But as he had opportune to observe her more, it was quite apparent that it was a trait of her species. She simply wore clothing for the sole purpose of providing protection and comfort that her otherwise human exposed skin could not. It was nothing which the angelic like humanoid (Eliena) was doing, for the sole purpose of a tease.
This realization had been hard to sink in, as he found it difficult to separate his objectivity with that of his natural male instincts during such observations.

Yes, it was quite difficult for him to remain indifferent and placid with some of her natural behaviors. Although he could pick up that she could sense when he showed interest in a manner of becoming naturally aroused by her, by which he had to consciously avert. This indicated it was possible for their species to interbreed, as this attraction/reaction was quite natural in every sense. This fact, he derived; also gave legitimacy to the reports of what Eliena had given to Master Organa. That her system had been twice exploited by other humans...Imperial, and now what appeared to be sith.

Well, that was neither here or there at the moment. What was at hand now was the fact that he had to constantly keep check on his disposition to not get the best of him. It were so easy to become enchanted by this angelic form of woman.
Well, thank the heaven's then that the water was quite brisk, then...
But he couldn't spend all morning in the water now, could he?

"I was just humoring, Eliena. Trees seem to be something which is synonymous to both our species' early survival. I am told my own genetic pool of ancestors used trees as their primary perch, eons ago. Primates, Eliena..." Stehl then started to walk toward the bank, as he found foothold again in the lake.
"...my species ancestral linage indicates we kind of climbed down from trees..." He then fully came up out of the water, knee deep now, approaching her a bit off angle. He decided to head a bit to her side, finding a dry spot on the bank a bit away from her, so as not to alarm her.
" ..while you on the other hand..." He sat down on the dry bank.
"...your linage that is, seemed to have found the means to fly down instead...off the trees." He spoke, making light of small talk.
He now sat, not two meters from where she was laying down on her stomach. This angle, sort of kept him from observing her more delicate parts. Still, it didn't help him much; as her smooth curves, supple soft skin....

Stehl turned to look over across the still lake. He had to, or all of his impartiality he so struggled to maintain would easily be compromised.
"Our species, evolved...kind of changed their ways from the time we dwelled in trees..." He spoke, now not looking at her lying there, trying not to think of her lying naked there, least his eyes would take him upon to naturally explore her heavenly body.

"Anyway, I'll be going back to the cabin after I get warmed up and dry." He then said, as he took to rest on his elbows, leaning back. The morning sun was climbing steadily and most of the shade from the foliage on the banks were now under light. Stehl then lay fully on his back and took to the morning sun to warm and dry him… closing his eyes to the bright star above.

"You are welcome to come and have some breakfast… if you are so inclined. That is, if you have no pressing matters to attend to… angel."

Wait-

Did he just call her-

"Eliena." He then said, correcting himself.

It was more of an involuntary reaction on his part… his eye brow rising, as she completely stripped out of her wet clothes.

He then found himself turning away, as he knew Eliena hadn't done it deliberate, but out of naturalness. Just that his own natural reaction was not in tune with her intentions of to as why.

Stehl had turned away, because he had to.

He had to, for at that moment he was naturally drawn to her wonderful female form, he realized of what had taken part in her dark past. It was then that the full brunt of what had most likely happened with those rogue Imperial scouts who discovered her world…and her kind.

Stehl turned away, for he felt the weight of guilt, upon his own shoulders of those who committed those un-imaginable crimes.

Yes, they were slime. And they had been Imperials.

Stehl could have so easily corrected her. He could have told her a while ago that he, along with his New Imperial States, were not like those slimes that Eliena hated to the very fiber of her core.

No. No, they would just be words out of another Imperial to her. They would have no merit.

He felt the gust of wind which she dissipated upon taking flight. He did not turn to look, but rather went to dress himself. His clothes upon the boulder had dried in the sun.

Stehl was pulling his shirt over just when Eliena returned.

He looked over the lake and falls, giving her time to cover herself, before he turned to her.

Their eyes met. Only she seemed to be looking at him with suspicion, checking him over to see if he perhaps had a weapon hidden. It didn't bother him. It was what he expected her to do…feel.

They certainly had a different outlook for one another.

To her, he was the proverbial son, bearing the sins of his fathers past.

To him, she was innocence lost. A key to redemption, of all sins past.

And she was indeed a beautiful simple being…graceful…angelic.

Stehl knew he had best be careful, should his heart fall for her beyond the scope of his objective. And that was to have Eliena discover for herself and without provocation that not all Imperials were the slime that she believed they were.

Yes, he certainly found it hard to keep from wandering over to those other feelings...those natural desires for her… clothed or unclothed. It made little difference, knowing how he had taken to her.

There was no doubt of his attraction to her as a man. But he was also a gentleman…more so than he himself knew at best.

And it was not something he thought about… but rather something which did come naturally to him. Something which he at times had struggle with, when duty called for him to step it aside for the good of the whole.

He nodded, giving her a smile.

"Come on then. I'll make us some pancakes…eggs…"

They walked back along the partly shaded path which ran along the bank of the lake. The sunlight filtered down through the trees like rays of divine light. Stehl occasionally looked back a bit to his side, as Eliena didn't walk right next to him. Rather, she walked slightly a bit behind. Her eyes, he would always catch on his person. She didn't trust him on bit and seemed she never put down her guard.

Little did she know/realize he didn't need any weapons should he need to dispatch an opponent.

He simply shook his head and smiled, as he looked forward again, in the direction of the cabin which they were heading back to.

"I wish you wouldn't look at me in that manner, Eliena.

…I may not have much more time left here on Lianna, before I must take leave for a while.
There are some things which I must do for Master Organa.
I would like it if we could just talk."

He turned once again to look back at her... " You know… about simple things."
